Preparation for Business & Enterprise Trip to Greenrigg PS

On Monday, the Preparation for Business & Enterprise students visited Greenrigg Primary school for a Dragon’s Den event as part of their Enterprise unit.
Three college groups and five Primary 7 groups  delivered their ‘pitches’ to Dragon’s Jan Watson, Beth Brownlee, Janice Walker, and Elaine Armitage.  Each group required a capital investment in return for a share of their business with some neat haggling displayed by both the Dragon’s and the groups!
Each group delivered a presentation showing off their finished products which included
·         Tropicize tropical fruit drinks,
·         Snowalicious ‘Frozen’ cookies,
·         Sweettreats school logo cupcakes
·         Sweetshakes ice-cream and marshmallow drinks
·         Battlemonsters trading cards
·         Stacz World foods
·         Tooti Frooti sleeve/sleeveless t-shirts
·         Pictotunes music app

The winners of the college and schools group were decided on by the Dragons with prizes awarded to Battlemonsters Trading cards for the schools’ contribution and Pictotunes from college.  A poll was taken of the students and pupils to determine an overall winner which went to Tropicize who very quickly collected their prizes of some early Easter eggs.
Both pupils and students enjoyed this great experience which helps to improve team bonds across the group and cement external partnerships  - we’re already in discussion about next year’s event!

Finally , well done to all pupils and students who took part in this event and many, many thanks to Beth for driving the mini-bus and to our lovely Dragons for their contributions.
